What to do...
Thursday, November 6, 2008
Hello everyone!
It seems that lady fortuna is not on our side. We wanted to go to Tibet but that would cost us between 500 and 1000 euros per person for 4 to 8 days so that is not really an option anymore. Our second alternative was to go down to Yunnan province which is supposedly fantastic. We were going to go there and then take a bus or train into Vietnam but massive rainfall and flooding has claimed the lives of 120 people in the region and left millions without homes, so that is not really an option anymore. It was a good thing I ended up on china daily's webpage yesterday, otherwise we would have sat 36 hours in a train only to be greated by boats and aid workers in Kunming!
Now we are contemplating what to do... Any ideas? Post em in the comments or email them... we are online one more hour :)

Bobby and Micki,
I am so sorry to hear of the situation. I just looked at a bbc weather website, and it shows quite heavy rain in the southwest (all down through thailand and philippines and over to japan as well) which is supposed to continue. I know nothing about internal chinese tourist destinations, but if you wanted to keep out of the rain, one possibility might be korea, which i understand is increasing its tourism substantially. but that is just a thought. love tom
I heard seul/soul/whatever (in south korea) is worth checking out. Like tom mentioned its becoming quite popular. I just read an article about it with tips where to go etc. If you are intrested I can mail/post the tips that was in the article (still got it here at home)! Hugs!
