Big City Life

Hello Everyone and welcome to another thrilling episode of "What Have Robbe and Micki Been Up To?"

After arriving in KL we decided it was time to soak up the big city life! We started off with exploring the city with a walking tour recommended to us by Emma (Thank you!). We explored Little India, China Town and everything in between. Kuala Lumpur is a very special place as there is a great culture mix: Chinese and Muslim, all packed in to a very modern an clean city package. The cultural area of Chinatown and Little India are great for sampling street food and people watching and just around the corner you can find the biggest and newest shopping malls in the world. We hit the Petronas towers, KL Tower and did some shopping while enjoying both local and western food... we also overshot our budget by quite a bit :D I didn't help our budget either by breaking my watch in Ko Tao and so had to buy a new one (an awesome Suunto D6 dive computer... all out baby!) We had to drag ourselves out from the city to find a dive shop and ofcourse it was closed when we got there. What are the odds? Shopping, eating and exploring done it was time to move on to Singapore.

Singapore was a good continuation of what we had started in KL. Great shopping, a lovely mix of Chinese and Indian culture and some superb sites. We decided that we had had enough of crappy internet cafes so we bought a sweet MSI Wind mini-laptop so now we can go online any time. Nice! Today however we found the perfect "piece de resistance": The night safari. Basically Singapore Zoo allows you to come out there after 7pm to see animals when they are at their most active. The best part about it is that you really get to get close to the animals, including the big cats! Also included is a great animals show which was one of the highlights. For me the worst part was walking through the walkway of bats... I thought there would be some kind of mesh or fence but nooooo. The big fruit bats zoom around and come flying right at your head. Definitely brought some memories of seeing Dracula some 15 years ago.

Well it's 2 o'clock at night now and I'm listening to HIFK vs TPS and tomorrow we have an early start to the airport cos we are off to Bali!

Take Care!
